The Horror Genre 


By definition, horror is "the strong feeling caused by something frightful or shocking". Horror films are created with the intention of provoking these reactions from the audience, therefore must startle them. This is normally done by taking away the of safety and featuring themes, characters or settings that will make the stereotypical viewer scared or uncomfortable. These are the conventions of the horror genre.
